Unit History
The 96th Infantry Division, nicknamed the “Deadeye Division,” was a U.S. Army unit that fought with distinction during World War II, particularly in the Pacific Theater.
Its Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI) features a blue and white “yin-yang” symbol, representing balance and unity. The division is best remembered for its fierce combat during the Battle of Leyte and the Battle of Okinawa, where its soldiers earned a reputation for exceptional marksmanship and courage.
