Unit History
The 62nd Cavalry Division was a U.S. Army Organized Reserve unit created in the 1920s following World War I. Headquartered in Indiana, the division consisted of reserve cavalry units from the Midwestern United States.
Its SSI (Shoulder Sleeve Insignia) symbolized the tradition of speed, mobility, and reconnaissance that defined the U.S. Cavalry. Though it never saw combat, the 62nd Cavalry Division played a vital role in training and preparedness during the interwar period. It was disbanded during World War II as the Army shifted from horse-mounted cavalry to modern mechanized and armored forces.
