Unit History

The 59th Infantry Division was a phantom (fictional) U.S. Army unit created during World War II as part of the Allied deception campaigns. It was used in operations such as Fortitude South to convince enemy forces that additional American divisions were positioned in the United Kingdom, preparing for invasions elsewhere. The division never existed as an actual fighting unit but contributed to the success of Allied intelligence and deception strategies.
