Unit History
The 17th Airborne Division was activated in 1943 and served in Europe during World War II. It participated in Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands and fought in the Battle of the Bulge, helping to counter German offensives.
Its shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) features a red and white triangle with a winged design, symbolizing airborne mobility, speed, and combat readiness. The division was inactivated in 1946 after the war ended.
