Unit History

The 11th Armored Division, nicknamed the “Thunderbolt Division,” carries the motto “J’avance” (“I Advance”). Activated in 1942, the division served with distinction in World War II, participating in major campaigns such as the Battle of the Bulge and the advance into Germany. Known for its armored firepower, mobility, and aggressive tactics, the division earned a reputation for effectiveness and resilience in combat.
