Cavalryman – Buffalo Soldier
A Buffalo Soldier was an African American soldier who served in the U.S. Army Cavalry following the Civil War, beginning in 1866. Assigned to regiments such as the 9th and 10th Cavalry, Buffalo Soldiers performed frontier duties, including protecting settlers, building infrastructure, and engaging in campaigns during the Indian Wars. Renowned for discipline, courage, and exceptional skill on horseback, they earned a lasting legacy in the Cavalry Branch of the Army.
