Unit History
The Subdued Pershing Missile Tab is worn by Soldiers assigned to units operating and maintaining Pershing ballistic missiles during the Cold War, with a design suitable for combat or field uniforms. These units were part of the U.S. Army’s strategic nuclear forces in Europe and the United States, tasked with missile readiness, deployment, and deterrence operations.
Wearing the subdued tab reflects the Soldier’s technical expertise, discipline, and operational role in one of the Army’s most sensitive and strategically important systems. It symbolizes their contribution to NATO defense and U.S. deterrence strategy while maintaining tactical discretion in the field.
