Unit History
The 2nd Infantry Regiment, whose motto “Do Not Touch Me” reflects its proud heritage, is one of the U.S. Army’s oldest active infantry units. With origins reaching back to the early 1800s, the regiment has served in nearly every major American conflict—from the War of 1812 and Civil War to both World Wars and modern deployments. Elements of the regiment have been stationed in Vilseck, Germany, as part of U.S. Army Europe, supporting NATO missions, training rotations, and rapid-response readiness. The 2nd Infantry Regiment continues to uphold its legacy of strength, discipline, and frontline leadership.
