Unit History

The 2nd Infantry Regiment, one of the U.S. Army’s oldest active regiments and known for its motto “Do Not Touch Me,” deployed elements to Bien Hoa, Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Operating from this key logistical and combat hub, the regiment conducted security missions, combat operations, and base defense in support of U.S. and allied forces. Soldiers faced mortar attacks, ambush threats, and intense operational tempo, contributing to major regional efforts around III Corps. Their service in Bien Hoa added a modern chapter to the regiment’s long history of discipline, resilience, and frontline leadership.
