Unit History

The 25th Scout Dog Platoon, attached to the 1st Cavalry Division, provided essential scout, tracking, and early-warning support throughout its Vietnam service. Operating as two-man dog teams, the platoon led patrols, detected ambushes, located enemy positions, and uncovered booby traps and tunnel sites—directly saving lives and enhancing the division’s combat effectiveness. Renowned for precision, endurance, and courage, the 25th Scout Dog Platoon earned lasting respect as one of the Army’s most valuable specialized units during the Vietnam War.
