Unit History

The 18th Military Police Brigade employed Sentry Dog units to provide critical security, perimeter defense, and early-warning capabilities during its overseas missions, most prominently in Vietnam. Trained to detect intrusions, alert handlers to enemy movement, and protect key installations, these Military Working Dog teams formed an essential layer of base and convoy security. Serving alongside MP patrols and security forces, the brigade’s sentry dog teams earned a reputation for vigilance, discipline, and unwavering reliability—contributing significantly to the safety and operational effectiveness of the 18th MP Brigade’s mission.
