The "9th Airborne Division" referred to as a "Phantom" division was a deception created by the US Army during World War II as part of Operation Fortitude South II. This deception aimed to mislead German intelligence about the location and strength of Allied forces, particularly during the D-Day landings. The 9th Airborne Division, along with other "phantom" divisions like the 21st and 13th, was used to suggest a large airborne threat to the Pas-de-Calais region
