47th Infantry Division
The 47th Infantry Division, also known as the "Viking Division," was a National Guard division formed in 1946. Composed primarily of units from Minnesota and surrounding states, it served during the Cold War as a strategic reserve force. Though never deployed to combat as a full division, its soldiers supported various missions and training exercises. The division was inactivated in 1991.
