SSI - 44th Infantry Division
The 44th Infantry Division was a U.S. Army National Guard unit composed mainly of troops from New Jersey and New York. Its shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) features a blue and red diamond divided by a white bar, symbolizing unity and strength.
Activated during World War II, the division fought in France and Germany as part of the Allied campaign in Europe. It earned a strong combat record before being inactivated in 1945, later serving in a reserve capacity until 1954. Its motto: “Prepared in All Things.”
