SSI - 30th Infantry Division
The 30th Infantry Division, nicknamed "Old Hickory" in honor of President Andrew Jackson, was a National Guard unit composed mainly of troops from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee. Its shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) features an intertwined "O" and "H" on a blue and red background.
The division served with distinction in World War I and World War II, particularly noted for its role in the Normandy Campaign, Battle of Mortain, and the Battle of the Bulge. It was praised for its combat effectiveness and earned a reputation as one of the best-performing divisions in WWII.
