SSI - 29th Infantry Division
The 29th Infantry Division, known as the "Blue and Gray Division," symbolizes unity between the North and South with its shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) featuring a yin-yang–style circle split in blue and gray.
Formed from National Guard units primarily from Virginia, Maryland, and other mid-Atlantic states, the 29th served in World War I and famously stormed Omaha Beach on D-Day during World War II. The division continues to serve today as part of the Army National Guard, supporting both federal missions and domestic operations.
