SSI - 27th Infantry Division

The 27th Infantry Division, known as the "New York Division," was a National Guard unit made up primarily of soldiers from New York State. Its shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) features a red “N” and “Y” monogram, representing its roots.

The division served with distinction in both World War I and World War II, especially in the Pacific Theater during WWII. It was inactivated in 1968, but its lineage continues today through the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the New York Army National Guard.
