SSI - 11th Infantry Division
The 11th Infantry Division, known as the "Lafayette Division," was a U.S. Army unit that was organized during World War I but never saw combat before the war ended. It was named in honor of the Marquis de Lafayette, symbolizing the historic alliance between the U.S. and France.
Though briefly reactivated during World War II as a "phantom division" for deception operations, the division was never fully deployed in combat. Its shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) is rarely seen today but remains part of U.S. Army history.
