Specialist 5th Class (SP5) was an enlisted rank in the U.S. Army, typically falling between E-5 and E-6 in terms of pay grade. The SP5 rank was used before the U.S. Army transitioned to using Sergeant for all E-5 and above ranks in the 1980s.
