Letterman Army Hospital was a major U.S. Army medical facility at the Presidio of San Francisco, active from 1898 to 1994. Named after Civil War surgeon Maj. Jonathan Letterman, it treated thousands of soldiers, especially during WWII and the Vietnam War.
