UNIT HISTORY

The 25th Infantry Regiment's insignia history is tied to its origins as a "colored troops" regiment in the 1860s and its subsequent campaigns, represented on the 1921 coat of arms. The insignia features symbols for its service in Cuba (blockhouse), the Spanish-American War (royal palm), Indian Wars (arrow), and the Philippine Insurrection (bolo), with the motto "ONWARD". This coat of arms was redesignated for the 25th Armored Infantry Battalion in 1951.
