UNIT HISTORY
The 25th Infantry Regiment was a segregated U.S. Army unit, one of the original "Buffalo Soldier" regiments, which was formed at Jackson Barracks, Louisiana, in 1869. It was created by consolidating the all-Black 39th and 40th Infantry Regiments, which included many Union Army veterans. The regiment served in conflicts such as the American Indian Wars and the Spanish–American War.
