UNIT HISTORY
The 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment served in Operation Desert Storm as part of the 101st Airborne Division's 2nd Brigade, known as the "STRIKE" Brigade. During the operation, the battalion helped cut enemy lines of communication, strike deep into Iraq, and participated in the massive air assault to establish FOB Cobra. The battalion deployed in late summer 1990 for Desert Shield and returned to Fort Campbell, Kentucky in March 1991.
