UNIT HISTORY

The 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment was part of the 101st Airborne Division and deployed to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Shield in 1990-1991. During this deployment, the 502nd's "Strike" Brigade took part in the largest helicopter air assault in military history during Operation Desert Storm, securing key objectives in Kuwait and Iraq and cutting off enemy escape routes.
