The 281st Assault Helicopter Company (AHC) served under MACV-SOG (Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group), a top-secret special operations unit during the Vietnam War. Known as the "Intruders," the 281st was the first U.S. Army helicopter company specially trained to support covert SOG missions, including reconnaissance, extraction, and direct combat support in enemy territory. The “w/ SVC” indicates recognized service in these high-risk, classified operations, highlighting bravery and elite aviation support in one of the most dangerous assignments of the war.
