187th Infantry Regiment - Torii, Rakkasans, Let Valor Not Fail, English, Latin X 300

The 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment (Rakkasans) is a regiment of the 101st Airborne Division.[a] The regiment was originally constituted as the 187th Glider Infantry Regiment[ The regiment arrived in New Guinea on 29 May 1944 and joined the New Guinea Campaign. The regiment left Leyte, and joined the Luzon Campaign by assaulting Nasugbu Point Luzon on 31 January 1945, The 187th was selected as an airborne regimental combat team responding to the crisis in Korea. The Iron Rakkasans emerged from the Vietnam War as the country's most highly decorated airborne battalion. In September 1990 the Rakkasans were deployed to Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Shield. The 187th,the Rakkasans deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and in Iraq for Iraqi Freedom.
