The 11th Pathfinder Company (Provisional) was a specialized U.S. Army unit formed in 1964 to support the 11th Air Assault Division (Test) and later deployed to Vietnam with the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) in 1965. As the Army's first and largest pathfinder unit in Vietnam, it played a crucial role in pioneering airmobile operations. Pathfinders were responsible for establishing and securing landing zones (LZs), guiding helicopters, and coordinating air traffic in combat zones. Their expertise ensured the safe and effective insertion and extraction of troops, often under hostile conditions.
