A retired Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 (CWO2) is a retired officer with a high level of technical expertise and experience, typically serving in a single-track military occupational specialty. CWO2s are commissioned officers, but unlike line or staff corps officers, they specialize in a specific field. They are promoted from the enlisted ranks after a successful career and typically retire after 30 years of service, or when they reach age 62, whichever comes first.
