Die-Cut Magnets - DUI - 82d Airborne Division X 300
The 82nd Airborne Division, originally known as the 82nd Infantry Division, was constituted in the National Army on August 5, 1917, to support the United States’ entry into World War I. It was organized at Camp Gordon, near Atlanta, Georgia, on August 25, 1917. The division was unique for its diverse makeup, with soldiers from all 48 states in the Union. The nickname "All American" was chosen by the citizens of Atlanta, and the division's shoulder patch proudly bears the letters "AA" as a reminder of its origins. The division saw action in the Western Front in the final months of World War I and was reconstituted as the first airborne division of the US Army in August 1942. It participated in numerous campaigns during World War II, including the invasion of Sicily and the Normandy landings. The division's history is marked by its strategic mobility and its role in some of the most significant military operations of the 20th century.
