The United States has had multiple units with "50th" in their name, but the most prominent was the 50th Armored Division, a National Guard unit from New Jersey, active from the post-WWII era until its inactivation in 1967. Its history includes service during World War II (as the 50th Armored Infantry Regiment), and its lineage was inherited by the new 44th Infantry Division, with the 50th Armored Division carrying on the history of the old 44th Division.
