The 25th Infantry Regiment, one of the original Buffalo Soldier regiments, was stationed at Fort Missoula, Montana, starting in 1888. These all-black regiments, distinguished by their courage and community service, were generally welcomed by the residents of Missoula, who enjoyed their lively Sunday concerts. The 25th Infantry's time at Fort Missoula is notable for their involvement in the Buffalo Soldier Wheelmen, a bicycle corps that gained national attention
