VII Corps is a U.S. Army formation with a long history, including service in World War I, World War II, the Cold War, and the Persian Gulf War. In the Persian Gulf War, it was a key component of Operation Desert Storm, deployed from Europe to Saudi Arabia to participate in the ground offensive against Iraq. It was not directly part of U.S. Central Command's structure, but rather a subordinate unit under the command of General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, the CENTCOM commander.
