The 5th Armored Division was a United States Army formation that was active from 1941 to 1945 and again from 1950 to 1956. It fought with distinction in World War II, where it was known for its speed and efficiency, earning nicknames like "Patton's ghost troops" due to its operations being kept secret at the time. After the war, it was reactivated for the Korean War era but was eventually deactivated.
