The "50th Infantry Division" in U.S. Army history is most prominently represented by the 50th Armored Infantry Regiment (formerly the 50th Armored Infantry Battalion), which saw service in World War II and the Vietnam War. The regiment was established in 1917, drawing its heritage from earlier units like the 23rd United States Infantry and the 50th Infantry Regiment. During WWII, the battalion played a key role in operations such as the Battle of the Bulge, as highlighted in this account from Super Sixth.
