The U.S. Army's 7th Infantry Division, for much of its history based at Fort Ord, California, has a veteran history marked by World War I, World War II Pacific campaigns including the Aleutian Islands, Leyte, and Okinawa, and the Korean War's Inchon Landing and Battles of Pork Chop Hill and Old Baldy. After the Korean War, the division was headquartered in South Korea. The division returned to the U.S., saw action in Operations Golden Pheasant and Just Cause, and supported civil authorities during the 1992 Los Angeles Riots before being inactivated at Fort Lewis, Washington in 1994.
