The U.S. Army's 7th Infantry Division, known as the "Bayonet Division," was activated in World War I and has a long history of continuous combat, earning its nickname from its role in close infantry fighting. The division participated in World War I, World War II (especially in the Pacific at Attu, Leyte, and Okinawa), the Korean War (Inchon, Pork Chop Hill, and Old Baldy), and various post-war operations like Operation Just Cause in Panama. The division's motto, "Bayonets!" emphasizes its proud fighting spirit and commitment to service.
