The 38th Infantry Division's nickname, "Avengers of Bataan," was earned during World War II for liberating the Philippines and avenging the fallen of the Bataan Death March. The division, originally known as the Cyclone Division, participated in key battles, such as the fight for Zig-Zag Pass, to help secure victory in the Philippines. The division's Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI) features a red circle with a blue "CY" monogram, originally symbolizing the "Cyclone" nickname but now also representing the "Avengers of Bataan" legacy.
