The 28th Infantry Division, also known as the Keystone Division and the "Bloody Bucket", is the oldest continuously serving division in the U.S. Army, originating in the Pennsylvania National Guard. Its history includes service in the Spanish-American War, the Mexican Border Expedition, and extensively in World War I, where it gained its nickname for its valor during the Battle of the Marne and later the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. In World War II, the division fought in Normandy, the hedgerow country, the Battle of the Bulge and the Hürtgen Forest, and at the Colmar Pocket, ultimately pushing into Germany.
