The 11th Armored Division, nicknamed the "Thunderbolt" Division, was an American armored formation in World War II known for its rapid movement during the Battle of the Bulge and its advance through Germany and Austria, where it met Soviet forces. The unit was activated in 1942 and served until the war's end, undertaking training and combat operations. Its distinctive nickname and insignia symbolized its swiftness and power, reflecting its quick march to reinforce Allied lines during the German offensive.
