The "Rakkasans" refer to soldiers of the U.S. Army's 187th Infantry Regiment, known for their Japanese nickname for "parachutists" and their Latin motto "Ne Desit Virtus" (Let Valor Not Fail). The term "Torii" is likely a reference to their service in the Pacific during World War II, as it's a Japanese shrine gate. The regiment earned the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) and participated in Pacific Service during the war.
