The 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division, Philippine Army, originated from the 6th Infantry Brigade (Provisional) in March 1973, tasked with confronting secessionist movements in Central Mindanao. It was formally re-established as the 6th Infantry Division in October 1987, with its headquarters located at Camp Siongco in Awang, Maguindanao. The "Kampilan" Division is a significant infantry unit in Central Mindanao, engaged in operations against the New People's Army (NPA) and other armed groups.
