The 3rd Armored Division, known as "Spearhead," was a prominent U.S. Army unit that participated in World War II, the Cold War, and Desert Storm. The division was a powerful armored formation for the Cold War in West Germany and was reactivated to fight in the Persian Gulf. The unit known as the 5th Battalion, 3rd Armored Field Artillery Regiment (5-3 ADA), while not fully part of the 3rd Armored Division, had some integration with it and likely served in the conflict to support the division.
