The 2nd Squadron, 10th Cavalry was historically an African American "Buffalo Soldier" unit, and its presence with the 7th Infantry Division at Camp Kaiser near Unchon-Ni, Korea, occurred during the occupation period after the Korean War, before the division moved to Japan and later during its involvement in the war itself. The 7th ID was a major U.S. Army presence in Korea during and after the Korean War, and Camp Kaiser was named in 1954, after being occupied by the division's 17th Infantry Regiment beginning in 1952.
