The 2nd Infantry Division, also known as "Indianhead," has a rich history that spans four major wars. It was first constituted on September 21, 1917, and organized on October 26, 1917, at Bourmont, Haute Marne, France. The division has been involved in significant battles, including the Battle of Belleau Wood and the Normandy invasion. It has been recognized for its heroic actions and has been one of the most decorated divisions in the United States Army. The division has also played a role in the liberation of Nazi camps during World War II.
