The 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment (1-22 Infantry) was a unit that deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) 1, which was part of the initial invasion in 2003. The unit's service in this deployment included fighting in the early stages of the war and engaging in operations across Iraq. The 22nd Infantry Regiment has a long history, including service in World War I, World War II, the Vietnam War, and other conflicts.
