The 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry, was reactivated as part of the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York, in 1985, after a previous deactivation at Fort Carson in 1984. The battalion supported humanitarian efforts following Hurricane Andrew in 1992, conducted combat operations in Somalia in 1993, and later deployed for Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti in 1994.
