The 15th Cavalry Regiment has a long and storied history, tracing its roots to the U.S. Regular Army in 1901 with service in the Philippine-American War. The regiment was deactivated after WWI, but its lineage continued through subsequent formations and redesignations, with elements serving in Korea, Germany, and Vietnam. Today, the 15th Cavalry continues to exist as a training unit for cavalry scouts at Fort Benning, Georgia.
