The 51st Engineer Combat Battalion, during the Battle of the Bulge, played a crucial role in delaying the German advance by preparing bridges for demolition and engaging in combat, particularly around Trois-Ponts. The battalion, specifically Company C, was instrumental in slowing the German armored units, forcing them to shift north towards Stoumont. The 82nd Airborne Division also participated in the defense of the area.
