The 39th Infantry Regiment, one of the original "Buffalo Soldier" regiments, was stationed at Fort Clark, Texas, during the late 19th century. It was part of the U.S. Army's effort to rebuild and expand after the Civil War, with its soldiers primarily tasked with frontier duty, including protecting settlements, building infrastructure, and engaging in conflicts with Native American tribes.
