The 25th Infantry Regiment, a "Buffalo Soldier" unit, was activated at Jefferson Barracks, MO, in 1866. It was one of the six racially segregated regiments formed by the U.S. Army after the Civil War. The 25th Infantry served in various campaigns, including the American Indian Wars, Spanish-American War, and World War II. They were known for their service in the West, including establishing lumber camps, building infrastructure, and engaging in conflicts with Native American tribes.
